The technology kids want to use at school is
Mobile, and unfettered. Forty four percent of ninth through twelfth graders own a smartphone. When that percentage reaches saturation in a few years, will we still ban them, or will we embrace them as the user funded, user supported learning tool they may already be? I can imagine a similar fear of progress playing out years earlier with the slide rule, calculators, and later, with personal computers. Let's hope we don't wait a decade before recognizing and leveraging mobile's potential.
